The easiest way of getting your equipment into the system initially is by using the equipment import feature. It is important to have your import file formatted correctly, and this article will explain how. Once your file is ready, IMEC will import the data for you.

The import file has the following fields:

  • ID: The unique ID specific to each piece of equipment. If the equipment already has a serial number or asset number, then its best to use it. Equipment ID is a mandatory field and must be unique across all facilities.
  • Description: You can specify a description for each specific piece of equipment, for example, Air Compressor at Production Line #1This field is optional.
  • Barcode: Use this field if you have barcodes on your equipment, and the barcode value is different to the equipment id. This field is optional.
  • Category: Your equipment is divided up into categories. The category name is usually the equipment type, for example, Air Compressor, Chiller, Generator, Pump etc. Categories act as folders for your equipment and procedures and are also used to manage settings like email alerts. We recommend not having multiple categories for the same equipment type. Category is a required field.
  • Type: Type is a reference field that can be used to store information such as Manufacturer, Model etc. This field is optional.
  • Organization: Facilities are divided up into organizations. The organization is typically your company name, or your client's name if you are managing procedures for a third-party. The organization could also be something like a region, or business unit. Organization is a required field.
  • Facility: This is the Facility Name at which the equipment is located. Facility is a required field.
  • Location: Description of the location within the facility where the equipment is located, for example, Production Line #1. Location is a required field.
  • Owner (Email Address): Owner is the person responsible for each specific piece of equipment. The owner needs to be a valid user on the system. This field is optional.
  • Notes: Enter any equipment-specific notes. These notes appear at the top of the procedure and on the mobile app. This field is optional.
